Hello, sorry but I didn't see your name on the site. My name is Keith and I found your site VERY useful. I really enjoyed the pictures as it helps out a great deal to see the work in action.

If you have the time, I do have a couple of questions. I have two kids that have breaded dragons, a couple of turtles and one bottomless frog. As it can be very spendy going to the pet shop to buy crickets every 2-4 days for crickets I would like to breed my own. What would be a good size container for 1000 crickets, is there any rule of thumb used for sizing 'X' amount of crickets to 'X' size of box?

Now for the heating pad, is this put directly on top on the container on the out side of it? Or inside on the lid? And for the egg laying container, is there a rule of thumb on this also, as I don't want one too big or too small, and does it matter how deep it is? (looked like yours was pretty deep if they only use half inch of the surface),

Once the egg laying container is remove from the colony and in the rearing container (replacing it with the original lid) is the lid shut tight or cracked open a little for air?

Wow, I hope that wasn't too much for ya and you have the time to respond.

Thank you very much

Keith

Sorry, but I forgot to ask one other thing. As for the cat food, is there any need to crush it in to smaller pieces?

Thanks once again
Keith

Hi I loved your website it is very helpful. I have had my cham Veil for 6 months now (baby). The owner told me his was a male, but looking at pictures on your website and others, I'm not so sure anymore. Zeus is a greenish color and can turn spotted at times. His colors vary from green yellow to a really dark green and black when stressed. He does not show the extreme colors of the males in the pictures and his head features do not show the broad top head like other males. How can you tell the sex? I have a feeling my little guy is a little lady=) thank you for you insight!

I love your website. This is the most well researched, informative chameleon website I have seen. Keep up the good work.

My 2 veiled chameleons are just about ready to mate and I was looking at your pictures of eggs hatching but didn't see an incubator. Did you hatch them at room temp? and if you did did you get males and females?
This is my first attempt.
Thank you for any help

Hello.
I Love your chameleon pictures, and there titles go well with there pics. Excellent job on the website. Looks great. I have one question concerning chameleons. Do Jacksons turn those "ti-dye" colors? Mine have turned a black diamond color, but that's it. Hope to hear from you soon.

I think that you should add a section of you page to every type of chameleon. I.E. I couldn't find much info on the chameleon that im going to get, the Jackson's Chameleon. I want to know what type of plants are good to put in the cage and also a section on how to breed them. Besides these two missing inks, I think yor page is the best on the www.

Come on. You have porn pop-ups on your web site. What kinda **** is that? I thought this was a chameleon information site and I find scum. Obviously you are trying to make money off of this sick perversion. My problem is not the porn, my problem is that you put porn pop up on a chameleon owner information site which has absolutely nothing to do with porn. You are one sick *******.

When I replied to this one my reply bounced back, so I could not find out exactly what he was referring to. I suspect the pop-ups were from a site he had visited previously.

Hi,

I was almost in the same boat as your "How I got started..." scene. I saw a Jackson's being sold at a pet store, I was intrigued. I was tempted to buy it on the spot but I have no prior reptile experience. I started researching and found out how I would have killed that animal in a week. I did TONS of online research. So now, I own a 270 gallon reptarium, housing a single Veiled male. Everything is cool, drip system, lighting setup, everything. I am working on a misting system. I found your site researching the proper substrate for a terrestrial cham I am getting. I am still getting mixed opinions. Dirt for plants but not for crickets. I think I am going to set up a feeding area without dirt and a dirted area without crickets. I will keep you posted about my experience if you are interested.

One of the most informative sites on chameleons that I have found. Too many focus only on how to take care of captive animals. Nice job!

Greetings,

I would like permission to reprint your article, "Myths, Misconceptions, and Folklore: Color Change as Camouflage," published at http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/enigma/1964/Other_Pages/myths.htm. I would like to place it on my website, Practical Pet Care, at http://www.practical-pet-care.com.  I really enjoyed the article, and think it would be very useful and interesting for my site visitors.

Please let me know if this is permissible, how you would like to be credited, and/or whom I should contact if I have reached the wrong address.

Thank you for your time,

Steph

Sure. Thanks for asking.
Credit should be something like: Excerpt from "Chamowners Web", with a link and if possible, keep the references on the article in tact. They are the small numbers in the bottom corner of the each frame. If you are going to mirror it, I am the process of making a nicer looking version. It will be posted hopefully tonight. The URL is http://chamowners.virtualave.net/Other_Pages/myths.htm. There is a newer version there, but I am cleaning it up a little more.

Thanks! I posted the article at

know if it meets your expectations.
